Feeling alone

Yesterday afternoon we went to see what to me was a rather depressing movie and then I read a kid's book: "Griffin's Castle" by Jenny Nimo. The book is about an 11 year old girl who had a lot of pain in her young life. I am not sure exactly why but I began to feel alone. I could not feel the usual closeness I feel to my Heavenly Father. The constant prayer in my heart was not working so I got down on my knees and gave a heart felt prayer. Not too long afterwards I felt a "finger" touch my heart and I knew it was my Lord and Master. It was as if he literally reached in and put his finger on my heart and left his imprint there.

This morning I felt that I could not do anything until I wrote a poem describing what I felt the best that I could.

A Spark of Love

I could not feel the Lord near,
And heaven seemed far away.
But one thing was very clear:
I needed to kneel and pray.

As I lifted my heart in prayer,
The door opened wide,
And suddenly He was there
Walking close by my side.

He touched the lonely place
Deep within my soul
Filling the hole with grace
And making me whole.

His touch left a mark
That only love can do.
It created a spark
That I can share with you.

About Me

Mayer, Arizona
My name is Suzanne Osborne Halliday. I am a mother of five sons: Michael, Edward, Stephen, Bruce and Daniel. I have a beloved step daughter: Lisa. I am the grandmother of seven grandsons: Anthony, Joshua, Aaron, Tyler, Mattie, Sydney, Zachary, and three grand daughters: Bella, Gali and Alycia. I was born in Wichita, Kansas in 1942 to Harvey Osborne and Joyce White. When I was nine years old my parents moved to Peridot, Arizona, a village on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation where my father had bought a trading post. It was not long after this that I was first introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A family down the road invited me to attend Primary. It was held in the back of the Weech's Trading Post in San Carlos. This was where I learned that I because of Jesus Christ I could return to live with my Heavenly Father again one day. Three years later my heart was touched by a Joseph Smith pamphlet I found in my brother Stevie's lunch pail. I joined the church 13 May 1961 when I was 19 years old. This decision has greatly changed my life.
